5 DAYS GEODETIC TRAINING COURSE A SUCCESS January 2005
WX Systems second training Course on Geodetic for Procedure Specialists, was held in Switzerland in January 2005. The Geo Training Course was once again a big success and was attended by 8 civil aviation experts from United Kingdom, Denmark, Egypt and United Arab Emirates.

The five day training course is tailored for the aviation market. The course is designed to compliment the Wx-systems software suite and discusses the theory and practice behind many of the spatial requirements used within the software applications. The course covers all the basic principals that govern the description of a coordinate and takes a gentle stroll through the subjects of geodesy, coordinate systems, coordinate reference systems (CRS) and map projections. The participants will be further introduced to the specific coordinate reference systems WGS84 and ITRF2000.

The course also covers the roll of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) within current positioning requirements along with what will be available in future years. An insite is provided into how a position and quality assurance is determined using the Global Positioning System (GPS) along with worked examples.
